SMS Terms and Conditions
Main Content
This page provides the terms and conditions regarding SMS messaging communications from the Southern Illinois University Foundation (hereinafter referred to as Foundation).
The Foundation sends text messages using a SMS messaging service to communicate with donors, alumni, community members and the general public.
Opt-in
Prospective users may opt-in to receiving text messages (i.e., SMS messages) by updating their contact record.
Messaging Costs
Standard message and data rates from your wireless carrier may apply. When you opt-in to receive SMS messages, you are responsible for any carrier fees such as data plan charges, text messaging charges, tolls, out-of-area roaming, and other charges. Check with your mobile operator for details on receiving text messages (SMS).
Carriers
Note that SMS communications from the Foundation may not be available through all mobile carriers.
STOP/Opt-out Information
If you wish to opt out of text messages, reply to any text from the SIU Foundation with the word STOP to stop receiving future messages. You may also update your preferences on the Foundation webpage at https://siuf.org/contact-us/update-your-record.php. Please note that opting out will remove you from all future text communications with the Foundation, including events you may register for in the future or updates, unless you were to re-subscribe to such services.
Privacy Policy
The Foundation values and respects the privacy of our alumni, donors, and other community members, and ensuring that you know how we use your information is important to us. Your use of the SMS messaging service is governed by the Foundation’s Privacy Policy. Foundation will not ask you for, nor should you provide, personally identifiable information, passwords, or any other confidential or sensitive information in SMS messages. Except as permitted by the Foundation's privacy policy, the Foundation does not share your information with third parties.
All mobile information you share with the Foundation will remain confidential and will only be used by Foundation representatives. The Foundation does not share phone numbers with external sources.
