- Who are the student callers and what are the job duties?
Student callers/fundraisers contact alumni and friends to update demographic information, keep people connected to the university, and solicit monetary gifts to fund scholarships and other support offered through the SIU Foundation.
- What is the time commitment for student callers?
Callers are required to work a minimum of 3 shifts per week. At the beginning of the semester, each student caller will be required to provide their schedule to the call center manager. Students will not be scheduled for days when they have class or any academic-related activities.
Calling sessions are held from 1:00-4:30 p.m. and 5:00-8:30 p.m. on Sundays, and 5:30-9:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday.
Student callers will not be required to work during spring break, Thanksgiving break, Christmas break and public holidays.

- How much money am I going to make?
All student callers start out making $12.00 an hour. In addition, callers receive bonuses for performing well on the job.
- Do I have to have federal work study in order to be eligible for employment?
It is not required for a student to have work study to be eligible for employment with the Annual Giving program.
- Where is the work site?
The call center is located on the first floor of Kaplan Hall. We have 24 calling stations at the call center.
- What type of training will I receive?
We provide training to all student callers regarding all facets of this position. Students will be paid for the training time as well.
- What skill sets are you looking for in your employees?
We are looking for students who have good communication skills and demonstrate a high degree of professionalism. It is important that callers be enthusiastic about being at SIU and have some experience in philanthropy, public relations, communications and marketing.
