Through the SIU Foundation, the Dunbar Society has been reintroduced as the Dunbar Leadership Society. With your support, we will become the leading program supporting African American students of any Illinois public university.

Since the 1960s, Southern Illinois University has maintained one of the highest African American enrollments of state-funded universities in Illinois. Student enrollment is currently at 17 percent*, and as a result, active engagement will also be conducted by the Dunbar Leadership Society to support the Africana Studies program, which is responsible for providing academic guidance and social enrichment to
undergraduate and graduate students attending SIU.

*The 2018-2019 academic year.
