The generosity of donors has allowed the College of Liberal Arts to provide program-wide support. This includes student scholarships and awards, funding for faculty and students to present their work at professional meetings, facility enhancement and underwriting aspects of student and faculty research. Every contribution is greatly appreciated.
With 12 majors and 30 minors in classes covering disciplines in the fine arts, humanities and social sciences, our curriculum offers many choices. Donors have provided funding for these disciplines with a desire to explore new concepts. They demonstrate an understanding of how to make an impact in the world by supporting the versatile academic experience.
The College of Liberal Arts prepares students to face the challenges of a changing world. Accomplished scholars teach our classes and mentor students in their research labs and centers. Undergraduate students can work with professors on research and creative activities. Many of the college’s faculty can teach anywhere in the world, but they choose SIU Carbondale because of the university’s balance of teaching and research.
